The Girl had the incredible skill of telekinesis 2020-07-31

“Matilda “
Author:
Roald Dahl

Living in a household that only treasured money and entertainment, Matilda, who was extremely passionate about reading and school, was often shunned and looked down upon by her family. Thus, she grew up incredibly lonely and friendless. Even Matilda’s school was not one that was ideal for growing up. It was headed by a cruel, viscous principal who only cared for obedience and despised joy. It was until one day when Matilda discovered that she had the incredible skill of telekinesis that she developed an unlikely friendship with her English teacher that her life completely changes.

“Matilda” is definitely a classic that all children, aged 7-11, should read. Not only is it an extremely enjoyable read with its many ups, downs, twists and turns, but also does it reflect a deeper meaningful truth about society. The light-hearted book touches on the much deeper concepts of loneliness, poor parenting, and perseverance. With Roald Dahl’s literary skills, it is impossible not to fall in love with Matilda and be completely encapsulated in her story.

Despite the countless challenges Matilda experiences in her life, she remains hopeful and optimistic, always looking forwards instead of backwards. Even more remarkably, she manages to forgive everyone who has ever mistreated her in the past and maintains positive relationships with the people around her. These admirable attributes are ones that we all need to learn from Matilda, for I’m sure we could all use a little perseverance, laughter, and hope.
